Towering at 30m high above the Forth and Clyde canal, the Kelpies are an awesome sight. I first discovered these magnificent statues on an unplanned detour home via the Kincardine Bridge in April. Half-asleep in the passenger seat I passed by these horse head statues and, amazed, I immediately took to Google to find out what they were. Unbeknown to me, construction on the Kelpies began in June 2013 and they were opening to the public just a few days after I first saw them. My husband and I finally took a trip to photograph them today. 300 tonnes of steel glistened in the sunlight before the storm clouds arrived to create a stunning, moody backdrop. If you haven’t been to see them, they are definitely worth a visit.
