Each October, Faskally Wood is brought to life in a display of light and sound that is simply breathtaking. This is the first year that I have visited The Enchanted Forest but it has been running since 2002 and is a true community event, with money raised being put straight back into the forest. Arriving in Pitlochry, you are then taken by shuttle bus to Fiskally Wood. As soon as you arrive at the forest, you are met with a spectacular array of bright lights and music that take you into a fairytale-esque world.
This year’s show was titled ‘Elemental’ and saw various shows throughout the forest from water to fire and more. The water show in the lake was captivating and water danced to various orchestral scores whilst being lit up by a multitude of different colours.
Throughout the forest, the trees were lit up in various different colours, which made them look truly magical. The website stated that it would take approximately 40 minutes to walk around the forest but I was lost in this enchanting wood for close to two hours. It was hard not to stop and admire each section of the forest.
This year aerial artists from All or Nothing performed in the tree tops. Swinging and dancing in the air, they were fascinating to watch. Despite the beautiful colours of the trees, I felt the below shot looked more striking in black and white.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and would definitely look to go again next year. It was a very well organised event with the stewards being super helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend that you visit in 2015 if you did not make it to this year’s event.
